How It All Started
Hey there! I'm Gizelda Toomer, the owner of Zelda's African Imports in New Orleans, Louisiana. The idea of building the store came as a suggestion when my fiancé and I had to attend an African ball some time ago. Finding something appropriate to wear wasn't a piece of cake. That's when someone suggested that I start a business that will help people looking for African clothing like myself.
Mission Statement
My company’s purpose is to sell African attire and accessories for every occasion—Black History Month, Weddings, Proms, 70’s themed Parties, Etc.—and provide superior
customer service.
I work with each client individually to find the right style and perfect fit for their special occasion. I feel that I have a deep ancestry connection to the African culture and enjoy working with all people shopping for African products. When shopping at Zelda’s African Imports, a percentage of money goes toward supporting orphans in Africa with their meals and expenses.
Biography
I have a strong entrepreneurial spirit and belief in myself. I’m also the owner of Toomer’s Tax, Notary and Wedding Officiant Services in New Orleans, Louisiana, a Realtor, and a Licensed Insurance Producer. I am ambitious with strong determination to succeed.
